Electric Will
Depression & Anxiety
The first panic attack I had was on holiday at the coast 14 years ago, I thought at the time I was dying, chest pain, hands were sweating, pins & needles and eyes were going blurry. It lasted about 30 seconds, then it just stopped like nothing had happened. It was the worst feeling that I’ve ever had to experience in my life. This coming from someone who had major back surgery, and never once had a feeling of dying like this. Since my panic attack everything was different, I started having really bad anxiety.

The thing that I did wrong was wait 10 years to do something about it, I really feel that I wasted my life by doing nothing. About 4 years ago I decided I can’t live like this anymore, and finally ask for a doctor. She went through different options, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). But I knew talking to someone about my anxiety wouldn’t help, so I asked about the other option which was to go on medication, namely Citalopram, which also comes as a liquid, because I can’t swallow pills. Since taking it for the last 4 years, I can now go weeks without anxiety.

But now I’ve been in lockdown for the last 100+ days, my anxiety has started to get worse again, and this time getting depression when I wake up the morning. COVID19, wanting to move out, no independence and no control is making it worse. So decided to ask the doctor to put my Citalopram dosage up. Let’s see how it goes in the next few weeks. .
